My Thoughts On Origins

The second attempt, let's go!

Alright so I did start another post about this a few weeks ago, but since then some more information has come out and I think that may give us a better picture of what's going on. I'm also trying to keep this as brief as possible as I have to be somewhere shortly. So, let's get on with it.

Alright, so almost a month ago this video was released to promote a crowdfunding campaign for Boondock Saints: Origins. I was very skeptical about the campaign, given the track record the director of the first two films, Troy Duffy, has and because the minimum amount they were asking for was $600. However, I did not think anything too terrible was going on behind the scenes, I just thought they were being greedy.

Then it was announced that Norman Reedus had no involvement in the project what so ever. Once again, I didn't think much of it. He does have the Walking Dead and his own show to think about, so he's probably just too busy to take on another show right now.

Then Sean Patrick Flanery posted this on Twitter:

Needless to say, that got me worried.

Then this article came out and it was all I needed to come to this conclusion: there's some kind of scam going on.

Alright, a big accusation to make and I have very little to go on other than some vague he said, she said, but Sean did say that there was "something [he and Norman] deemed incredibly unethical that [they] cannot turn a blind eye to." Given that the minimum amount you can donate to the crowdfunding campaign is $600 (very steep for most people), my guess would be that the money's being laundered or mismanaged in some kind of way and Sean and Norman left for that reason. I know neither of them would be comfortable taking fans' money like that or having their names attached to some kind of scam, so it's a valid theory.

Then again, what do I know? I'm just a twenty-year-old sitting on her bed, eating M&Ms, and speculating about the legality of a crowdfunding campaign while I myself can barely keep my bank account balance over $0.00, and you most likely are some poor, horny dude in Abu Dhabi looking for a hot Muslim single in your area to bang. (Yes, I know where most of my traffic comes from and I'd like to state proudly that the site you just came from is fake.) If you are thinking of donating to this fundraising campaign, I would strongly caution you against it, but I have no control over what you do with your money, so have at it Hauss, I guess. If this series does come out, I am going to watch it, but I'm most likely going to pirate it. I know...

I try to do things legally. It's not my fault that I'm broke. It's the person who thought it was a good idea to buy all those extra lives on Blossom Blast Saga on my phone and wasted them all in less than twenty minutes' fault.

Anyways, as far as that fanfiction I'm writing goes if the new series follows the canon of the movies, I guess I'll have to take it into consideration. If not, I'll just cherry pick what fits into my headcanons and what doesn't. That sound good?
