I have banished this to a dark, rarely visited corner of Fan Fiction, so you know it's going to be crap.

The moon is a crescent with a creepy face. It's always like that in my dreams. Ever since I was a kid the moon was like that. It used to scare me, but now it doesn't, because there are darker and scarier things in my dreams than a creepy-faced moon.

The dream starts with me riding on a carousel that's surrounded by chains. I know the carousel. It's this one in a theme park I used to go to when I was a kid. However, the bright lights and cheerful music of the amusement park are gone and have been replaced with chains and a deep, dark abyss.
I am wearing a black short-sleeved button-up collared shirt, a black skirt, long, black stockings and black shoes. The only splashes of color in my outfit are a cyan tie and cyan gloves. My hair is tied back in a long braid and is its usual, dyed color, black.
As I spin around and around on the carousel I begin to realize that I am paralyzed. The only things on my body that have the ability to move are my lips, and that is not of my own free will. My lips are moving, but I have no idea what I'm saying. It's almost as if I'm not speaking at all.
Then, all of a sudden the carousel disappears out from under me and I am falling into the deep, dark, chained abyss.

As I fall, I notice I am shouting something, but once again, I can't hear what. Then suddenly a pair of shackles captures my wrists and I'm being hoisted upwards. I pass through a circle of light, unknowing of what lies in wait for me on the other side.

When the brightness wears off, I see that I am being held forty feet above a crowd of angry looking people. It immediately hits me that this is some sort of lynch mob that has come to kill me. For what, I do not know. There are too many possibilities. I've killed so many people, watched so many people take their final breaths, and seen the spark in people's eyes die out… I'm surprised this didn't happen sooner.
I know what is going happen in the dream next. I'm gonna be released from the shackles and dropped into the gathered crowd and be beaten to death. I know it's going to happen no matter what, and all I can do is put on a brave face and get what's coming to me. I have to accept death.
Now, I've had this dream thousands of times. I know every detail of it. From the creepy-faced moon to the names of the people who I have wronged that are gathered below my feet. Usually the dream ends here. But this time, something different happens.
This time, a white light shines and for some inexplicable reason, it causes me to land fifty feet away from the crowd, completely safe.

I'm not sure of what to do, so I take off running. As with all dreams, the laws of physics don't apply, so nothing stops the ground under me from rotating and making me trip and fall. The lynch mob is following me and is not having the same problems I am dealing with the rotating terrain. They're gonna catch me and I know it, but that doesn't stop me from getting up and making a poor attempt to out run them.
Eventually, the earth stops moving at sudden ninety degree angles and I'm able to regain my footing. However, my twisted, twisted subconscious throws a different torture my way. Something worse than being in fear of imminent death by people you have wronged. Being in fear of imminent death by people you have killed.
Well, not exactly people. Mutts. Mutts that have been modeled after dead tributes by the likes of Game Makers. Mutts that have one desire in life. Kill me. They join the crowd (Well, actually, they pass the crowd.) in an attempt to kill me.
I try to out run them, but I quickly find myself cornered against a building. With no other options, I climb up the building. It works until I get halfway up the building. Then the laws of physics decide to kick in and I begin falling. The crowd has gathered, along with the mutts, and I know this is the end. In the last few moments of my life, I see the faces of the few people in this world I care about flash by…
…and then blackness.

Okay, I was waiting until after the real chapter three of Betrayed came out to publish this, but I changed my mind.
The title of this fic is a French phrase. "Betê Noir" means "Dark Beast" or "Nightmare". Fits the fic well because it's going to have a lot to do with nightmares.
Yeah. Short Author's Note. I had a longer one, but then my computer lost the internet connection (Thanks to a certain cat named Michael playing with the wire that connects the wi-fi router to the internet or whatever.) and I lost it.
Next Chapter will be called: "Why Marceline Hates Parties".
